In a nutshell

A Personal Learning Account is a new initiative from the Welsh Government. It is a free and flexible way to learn. The initiative will offer people the chance to access free, part-time courses that offer flexible and convenient learning around their existing lifestyle.

The Project Management Professional (PMP®) is the gold standard of project management, boasting over a million certified professionals internationally.

Currently on its 6th edition, the PMBOK® Guide details the 49 processes necessary to cover the full implementation of a project, which according to the PMI will enable the certificate holders to earn up to 25% more over their competitors, and increase the success rate of project implementation.

The PMP® Certification can help your career in the following key areas:

Course content

Throughout this course you'll cover the 49 processes of the certification and discuss the breakdown of each of these into Inputs, Tools and Techniques and Outputs. This is achieved across five project phases: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, Closing.


The five phases span ten knowledge or subject areas, which are generally performed in the delivery of a project. These are the areas of:

  • Integration management
  • Scope management
  • Schedule management
  • Cost management
  • Quality management
  • Resource management
  • Communications management
  • Risk management
  • Procurement management
  • Stakeholder engagement

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements, but you’ll need a keen interest in the subject. You'll also need to have 5 years’ experience leading a project, or 3 years’ experience for delegates with a University degree to sit your exam.

This course is delivered by virtual classroom. Virtual classrooms are equivalent to face-to-face classroom courses, but delivered in an online environment.

You will need to put aside 4 days to attend this course.

The course does not include exams. You will need to book and pay for exams separately.
