What will I be doing?

Join this innovative course to develop and hone your creative skills. Learning to work and think creatively is a highly desirable and transferable skill.

Our media courses cover disciplines such as film, TV, radio, animation and web design. Tutors are current and relevant as they continue to work in their own specialist areas, and it is this professional ethos and vocational experience that will make all the difference as you study within the field of creative industries.

Each school within this field is passionate, modern and progressive. Our facilities are excellent, and the environment is designed for you to explore and develop your creativity.

You'll be assessed through ongoing project work, involving written and practical outcomes. These include research and analysis, creative use and exploration of a wide range of technologies, as well as evaluation of your own work.

You’ll be required to contribute to class discussions and peer assessments, take part in group and live projects and give formal and informal presentations as part of your assessment process. Upon completion, you’ll achieve:

What is expected of me?

To enrol, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, to include English/Welsh First Language, or appropriate Level 2 Diploma qualification at Merit Grade with GCSE English/Welsh First Language at Grade C or above.

You should be able to develop creative ideas in a variety of production situations and be able to explore a wide range of technological processes. Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject, self-motivation and a passion for the subject. There is an expectation that you’ll continue your independent studies and coursework during your own time.

What comes next?

Successful completion of the Year 1 90 Credit Diploma will allow you to progress on to Year 2 and complete the full Extended Diploma. From there, progression routes include:

  • Foundation Degree in Media Production at Crosskeys Campus
  • Higher education in a range of media disciplines
  • Employment in media industries such as TV / film production or post-production, radio production, advertising, and/or marketing/publicity.
