In a nutshell

There are several common categories in pesticide training. Once you have your PA1 theory certificate, you can then take any other module, making sure that you're legal and safe when using chemicals.

Course content

The law states that anyone who uses or applies pesticides in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, industry or amenity workplaces must possess a valid Pesticide Certificate in order to comply with regulations. This legislation isn't optional, and it applies to volunteers, employed and self-employed people alike.

You'll gain essential knowledge for the correct application of pesticide with knapsack sprayer near water courses, using hydraulic nozzle or rotary atomiser type sprayers. You will cover:

  • The setting and checking of equipment
  • Measuring areas
  • Calibrating equipment
  • Mix and measure chemicals
  • Cleaning and storing equipment

You'll learn through a combination of theory and practical work.

Entry Requirements

Achieved Pesticide Application (PA1 and PA6).
