This course covers a varied and in-depth information on the use and disposal of pesticides.
It is a mandatory foundation unit covering the legislation of using pesticides and must be completed before embarking on any other NPTC pesticides course.

Course content
Legislation requires anyone who uses pesticides in the course of employment or business to have received adequate instruction and to be competent in the duties undertaken. This requirement applies to both the safe use and handling of pesticides and the application method(s) used. Each person will need to undertake the foundation module (PA1) and a relevant application module.
You will cover:
- Legislation
- Interpreting product label information
- Personal safety and contamination
- Pesticide and container storage
- Disposal
- Record keeping
- Environmental factors
Entry Requirements
You don’t need any previous experience but you must be 16 or over.
Additional information
You will take an online test that takes approximately 1 hour.
You should do this course in conjunction with either PA6 or PA2 or both.
The length of course is 1 day with an on line assessment usually at the end of the day.
