The aim of this course, is to introduce learners to the key terminology, procedures and techniques in the Project management field. This will include planning and scheduling, quality management and decision making.
You’ll start with an introduction to the project management organisational structure and the project business case. You'll learn how to communicate effectively and manage risk. Then, you’ll begin to develop your skills estimating cost and managing change.

Those looking to take the first steps into a career in Project Management and would ask as a precursor to taking on the demands of a qualification in this area.
You will identify the key methodologies including Prince2 and Six Sigma which underpin the industry standards in this area.
In this short course we encourage the use of Project Management IT systems as you explore the key principles of Project Management. We utilise Microsoft Project as this is widely used in industry.
At the end of the course you will have the basic skills and knowledge to plan, process and evaluate a small project utilising IT systems.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, a sound understanding of the commercial environments along with good levels of IT, numeracy and literacy skills will enable you to progress onto qualification based courses in Project Management.
Access to a PC and Microsoft suite of software will be useful to enable further study outside of the classroom.
