In a nutshell

If you’ve never tried archery but would like to, this course is an ideal introduction! It’ll give you the chance to experience the sport using different bows and shooting styles.

Course content

The course gives you the chance to experience the sport of archery using different bows and shooting styles. More specifically, you’ll learn about:

  • Health and safety
  • Technique – sighted and barebow
  • Equipment knowledge
  • Scoring

You’ll be expected to commit to full attendance, have a keen interest in trying archery and to participate in every session. While there’s no formal qualification, your tutor will provide informal, verbal assessment during sessions. Once you’ve completed the course, you could go on to join an archery club, or enrol on one of our other sports or exercise-related part-time courses.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, you just need a keen interest in the subject.

Additional information

The course takes place at Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone and shooting will be in a private rental. The course fee of £50 per person covers all materials, transfer between locations and contributes to hiring the facilities. You’ll need to complete a declaration form for travelling on college mini-buses.

Payment Information

Due to current limitations, payment can only be made via bank transfer.

An invoice will be sent from salesledger@coleggwent.ac.uk within 72 hours with instructions on how to pay or set up payment instalments if required.
