  • A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit
  • DD at A Level
  • DE grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

Plus: GCSE passes in three subjects at grade C or above to include Maths and English Language (or equivalent).

What will I be doing?

The retail industry is a significant employer, accounting for 11.3% of the UK workforce, in a market worth £85 billion. There are many challenging and rewarding job opportunities in this fast-moving industry, whether you’re looking to launch a career or enhance your current employment prospects. This foundation degree, the only one of its kind in South Wales, prepares you for a management role through acquired knowledge and relevant experience. You’ll have the opportunity to work with recognised retailers, to gain hands on experience in the workplace thereby developing transferable skills to greatly enhance your employability.

  • Foundations in marketing
  • Accounting in a business context
  • Contemporary retail landscapes
  • Principles and practices of retail management
  • Supply chain management
  • Brands and consumer lifestyles
  • Clicks, bricks and omni channel retailing

You will also hone your skills for employment through a live project and a professional development module, as well as undertaking a work placement.

This course is designed to attain a balance between theory and practice. You’ll learn at college through lectures, tutorials and seminars and also engage in activities at the workplace or placement location. In the second year, you’ll undertake a work placement with a leading retailer to develop and promote your employability at managerial.

What comes next?

Graduates will be armed with the relevant skills and knowledge to enable them to enter a career in retail management. There is a vast range of opportunities in retail operations of various sizes, covering a multitude of goods. Alternatively, as the course includes modules that focus on business start-up, graduates would be well equipped to create their own enterprise in the retail market.
