You would usually need at least one of the following:

  • A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit
  • DD at A Level
  • DE grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

Plus: GCSE passes in three subjects at grade C or above to include Maths and English Language (or equivalent).

What will I be doing?

You’ll make use of technology in performance, gaining an understanding of digital projection, computer composition, and sound design. With strong links to employers in the creative industries, this course aims to provide you with both understanding and experience of the field of performing arts. At the end of the course you could go on to further study or move directly into a job in which you can use your performance and creative skills.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills in the creation of performance, and explore the relationship between dance, drama and music in such forms as physical theatre and music theatre. You’ll create pre-professional projects or undertake work placements, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your voice performance and complete appropriate research and study skills for the performing arts.

You’ll experience a range of different approaches to study in the performing arts, including discussion, rehearsal, workshops and devising performance. You’ll be introduced to new skills relating to technology and performance, such as lighting and computer-based sound recording and design. You’ll also need to be able to manage projects and negotiate with partners and other agencies.

You’ll be assessed via coursework, performance and online submissions and you’ll achieve a Foundation Degree in Performing Arts.

What is expected of me?

To enrol, you’ll need 3 GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include Maths and English (or equivalent), plus:

  • DE grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

What comes next?

There are a range of careers available to you following completion of the Foundation Degree in Performing Arts. With further study, you could consider drama in education, rehabilitation or therapy.

You could also go on to study the final year of BA (Hons) Theatre and Drama, or BA (Hons) Performing Arts.
