You would usually need at least one of the following:

  • A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit
  • DD at A Level
  • DE grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

Plus: GCSE passes in three subjects at grade C or above to include Maths and English Language (or equivalent).

You may also be asked to attend an interview or audition, take part in a workshop session, or present a portfolio of work as part of the selection process.

What will I be doing?

You’ll complete practical production and theoretical modules in a range of lectures and workshops using our new TV studio.

The course will cover a range of media topics over the two years such as:

  • Visual storytelling
  • Aural storytelling
  • Digital design
  • Power and responsibility: the theory of media
  • Practical project
  • Study skills
  • Documentary project
  • Drama project
  • Media theory in practice
  • Work placement
  • Career development

The development of a broad range of industry relevant transferable skills, with particular emphasis on communication, social, technical and networking skills, will stand you in good stead for future employment.

You’ll be assessed via online submissions, essays, practical and portfolio work. Upon completion, you’ll achieve the Foundation Degree in Media Production.

What is expected of me?

To enrol, you’ll need GCSE passes in three subjects at Grade C or above, to include Maths and English Language (or equivalent). You’ll also need at least one of the following:

  • A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit

  • DE Grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

What comes next?

There’ll be an option to progress from the Foundation Degree to BA (Hons) Media Production.

Past students of the BA have entered careers in film, TV, radio production and presentation, press and public relations, web design and journalism.
