You would usually need at least one of the following:

  • A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit
  • DD at A Level
  • DE grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

Plus: GCSE passes in three subjects at grade C or above to include Maths and English Language (or equivalent).

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.

In a nutshell

You’ll learn about community health issues and develop a range of practical skills for use with patients. You’ll improve your general communication, team working, time management and IT skills so that you are able to work in a range of settings.

What will I be doing?

For those who aren’t already working in an appropriate health-related role will complete two placements, together with projects related to the work that they’re doing. If you’re in appropriate work, can use this as an opportunity to explore new aspects of your work context and improve your career prospects.

Modules will include Anatomy and Physiology, health promotion, physical activity and lifestyle and ethics.

You need a minimum of three GCSEs, Grade C or above, including Maths and English Language (or equivalent) plus:

  • A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Merit/Merit
  • DD at A Level
  • DE Grades at A Level plus C in Welsh Baccalaureate
  • Access to HE where you have achieved a Pass Diploma with 45 Passes

What comes next?

Employment in an assistant practitioner role in a range of healthcare organisations, such as the NHS, community health projects, private sector, rehabilitation work or social care. You can progress to a full BA in Community Health and Wellbeing or apply for another health-related course.

You’ll need to undertake work experience, as this is linked to core modules. It’s therefore necessary for learners to apply for a DBS check which will cost £44.00.
