Course content
This five week practical based course will give you an insight into the basics of dog grooming. You will develop a variety of practical skills including how to correctly dry and brush dogs using appropriate grooming equipment, how to correctly cut dog's nails and basic coat maintenance and trimming.
You'll be expected to participate in practical group sessions and on completion will recieve a Coleg Gwent certificate.
Please note that dogs are not provided for the course so you must be able to bring a dog along to practical sessions.
On completion you could take one of our other canine courses or progress onto alternative part-time courses, or even a full-time college course to further expand your knowledge.
Entry Requirements
While there are no formal entry requirements you should have a keen interest in dogs and dog grooming, and be able to bring your own dog to practical grooming sessions.
Learners should be at least 16 years of age and we recommend you have an up-to-date Tetanus vaccination.
Additional information
This course is taught by one of our qualified dog groomers and runs on a Tuesday, 5pm – 9pm, for a period of 5 weeks.
