Course content

The Dog Academy course offers individuals the opportunity to develop skills towards understanding the domestic dog. Areas covered within the course are:

  • Gaining a positivie relationship with your dog
  • Instinctive and learned dog behaviour
  • Recognising and monitoring these behaviours
  • Understanding training methods of the domestic dog
  • Evaluating the success of training techniques

Assessment:

The course will be assessed via oral and practical evaluations.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements, although learners will need to be over the age of 16. Attendees aren’t required to bring a dog to the first session.

Additional information

On successful completion, learners will gain a college certificate and can go on to study other part time courses in:

  • Cat and dog first aid
  • Dog walking
  • Dog grooming

The course will run on a Tuesday evening 5.30pm – 7.30pm for a period of six weeks, at a cost of £80.
