Cyber security is now a critical issue for both businesses and individuals. This introductory course will teach you the basics, helping you stay safe online. It can also be tailored to the specific needs of employers to help develop their understanding of cyber security for their business.

Course content
This course will cover all the essential skills you need to use in real life, whether personally or in business, to protect yourself from cyber threats including how to:
- Be sensible and safe online – your role in preventing and reducing cyber threats using authentication measures
- Be up to date and aware of the most recent techniques used by 'hackers' and assess their impact
- Understand the different types of malware and how to prevent infection
- Understand the fundamentals of networking and communications in relation to cyber security and how to protect these using firewalls and VPNs
At the end of the course there’ll be a formal test to demonstrate understanding, which will allow you to receive a Coleg Gwent certificate
