Course content

Apprenticeships involve a mix of learning in the workplace and college training, giving you the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work environment

You'll be assessed through coursework, tests, assignments, work-based observations and work-based evidence, and as you progress through the course you’ll achieve a number of qualifications as part of the Level 3 Apprenticeship Framework:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma
  • Level 3 Diploma
  • Essential Skills Qualification Communication
  • Essential Skills Qualification Application of Number
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities

On completion, we expect you to be able to carry out your carpentry role confidently and competently to the standard set by the Industry.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for this course, you’ll need to be under 25 with a Foundation Apprenticeship and Level 2 Diploma in Wood Occupations. You’ll also need to be employed in the construction industry, paid at least the national minimum apprenticeship wage and have a Contract of Employment. As an Apprentice you'll need to attend college on a day release / block release basis, and we’ll want you to be fully committed to attending as well as respecting others, having an enthusiasm for the subject and being self-motivated. Your employer must also pass the necessary Health and Safety vetting.
