In a nutshell

Plumbing and heating can involve everything from making pipework to installing the latest environmental technologies – and this Apprenticeship can give you the skills and knowledge you need to become a plumbing and domestic heating technician, while being employed and paid while you’re learning. At the end of it, you’ll have a Level 2 NVQ Diploma, which will improve your career prospects and earning potential.

Course content

Apprenticeships involve a mix of learning in the workplace and college training, giving you the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work environment.

You'll be assessed through coursework, tests, assignments, work-based observations and work-based evidence, and as you progress through the course you’ll achieve a number of qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma
  • Essential Skills Qualification Communication
  • Essential Skills Qualification Application of Number
  • Essential Skills Qualification in Digital Literacy
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities

On completion, we expect you to be able to carry out your plumbing and heating role confidently and competently to the standard set by the Industry.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for this course, you’ll need to be under 25, with a minimum of 5 GCSE grades D or above to include English and Maths. You’ll also need to be employed in the industry, paid at least the national minimum apprenticeship wage and have a Contract of Employment. As an Apprentice you'll need to attend college on a day release / block release basis, and we’ll want you to be fully committed to attending as well as respecting others, having an enthusiasm for the subject and being self-motivated. Your employer must also pass the necessary Health and Safety vetting.

Additional information

Completing this course will enable you to move on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship programme. Our Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship is part-financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

An invoice will be sent from within 72 hours with instructions on how to pay or set up payment instalments if required.
