If you want to become a bricklayer, this entry course is made for you! You can learn the basics of bricklaying and fundamental brickwork skills in our dedicated workshops, so you can start your career in the construction industry.

What will I be doing?

This course is ideal for anyone looking for an introduction to the bricklaying industry, who wishes to undertake a course which will act as a pathway to further studies in this area. It will give you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge, along with the opportunity to progress onto our Progression Level Brickwork qualification.

The course is delivered through practical sessions with excellent workshop facilities and theory lessons to underpin the knowledge learnt in the practical sessions. It will also include a module in a second trade.

You'll be assessed through practical projects, written tests and online tests. Once complete, you’ll achieve:

  • Diploma in Foundation Level Brickwork Studies
  • Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
  • Skills Activities
  • Maths and English

What is expected of me?

To enter the course, you’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs, Grade D or above, to include Maths/Maths Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language, or an appropriate Entry Level qualification.

You need to have a desire to work in the construction industry. Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.

What comes next?

After completing the Foundation in Bricklaying course, you can progress to the next level to boost your skills further, or go straight into employment using the skills you've learnt.
