What will I be doing?
The core subjects include industrial safety, materials and processes involved in engineering and using industrial standard communication methods. The mechanical engineering option for this course consists of engineering machining, making components using hand tools and fitting techniques.
The course is delivered through a blend of the following:
- Practical workshop sessions
- Classroom sessions
- Student centred work
- Demonstrations and discussions
You’ll be assessed through practical assessment for most units and written assignments to show your understanding. Upon completion, you’ll achieve:
- Level 2 Engineering (Mechanical)
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
- Other relevant qualifications to enhance your skill set
What is expected of me?
- 4 GCSEs grade D or above, to include Maths, English (or Welsh as a first language) and Science; or
- A suitable level 1 diploma and GCSE grade D or above in Maths and English (or Welsh as a first language)
What comes next?
Employment or an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
