Learners should have 4 GCSEs at grade D or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a vocational subject. Adults with some prior hairdressing experience, but without the entry qualifications will be considered.

This is part time course aimed at adults who wish to develop the skills to pursue a career in Hairdressing.

What will I be doing?
You will be introduced to the basic skills in the Hair sector, including shampooing, blow-drying and styling, colouring, cutting, and client care. The course combines the theoretical underpinning knowledge in hairdressing and developing the practical skills in the salon. You will be working on practice blocks to develop your skills, as well as working on peers and salon clients. Assessment will be via multiple-choice questions, assignment work and practical hairdressing services.
What is expected of me?
You will be expected to attend fully, spend time revising theory and work on assignments. All hairdressing learners benefit from practicing their skills on their blocks outside of college course time. Learners should be keen to gain hairdressing skills and committed to their development. Bringing clients in for assessments is an important part of Hairdressing courses.
What comes next?
Learners can progress to Level 3 Hairdressing.
Learners will be expected to purchase their own uniform and Hairdressing kit, at a cost of approximately £250. Further information will be forwarded near to the start of the course.
