Course content
This NPTC course is for professional users and teaches the practical skills and underpinning knowledge around legislation, risk assessments, safe operation and machine maintenance for:
- Brushcutters
- Trimmers
On completion you’ll be assessed for the Certificate of Competence, a qualification recognised by the Royal Forestry Society in Arboriculture. This will enable you to work for councils or in garden maintenance, or go on to other agriculture courses.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but you should be aged 16 or over. You will be required to bring the following:
- Two passport photographs
- Steel-toe cap boots
- Suitable clothing eg overalls, wet weather clothing
- Lunch - please bring a packed lunch and flask

The course is two and a half days – two days training and a half-day assessment.
