Covering the knowledge and skills needed by teachers/trainers in further education or skills training, this course will give you a fundamental understanding of your role and responsibility relating to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the learners’ needs.

…anyone who works, or want to work, in the education and skills sector or who’s just started a teaching/training role.
This six-day (36 hours) course is spread over 7 weeks, and is designed to enable you to support learning, plan and deliver sessions using appropriate resources and teaching methods, and identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback. By the end of the programme, you’ll be able to:
- Explain the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Demonstrate inclusive teaching and learning approaches
- Describe the principles and practice of assessment
You’ll be assessed on 8 pieces of written work and the delivery of a micro-teaching session and assessment of 2 colleagues. To achieve the qualification, all assessments must be passed and the pass mark for each assessment is 70%, after which you’ll be awarded a C & G Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
Although there are no formal entry requirements, you should be 19 or over and have the ability to read and interpret written tasks, write answers in a legible and understandable format and organise written information clearly and coherently. You’ll also need to consider a subject for delivery in which they have experience or subject specialism.
After completing this course, you could progress to our NVQ Assessor and Verifier awards, Level 3 in Coaching & Mentoring or consider a PGCE.
