Course content

This is the foundation level in the Cisco series of networking courses. It will introduce the architecture, structure, functions, components and models of the internet and computer networks, giving you a general grounding in network knowledge.

The principles of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are also introduced to you.

By the end of the course you’ll be able to build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches and implement IP addressing schemes, including VLSMs.

Assessment

Assessments are on screen and can be booked when learners are ready.

Entry Requirements

While there are no formal entry requirements, learners are asked to:

  • Demonstrate IT skills appropriate to the demands of the course
  • Demonstrate the ability to work at level 2 (GCSE standard) in English
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and work with technical information and follow technical instructions
