To achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Law & Practice, you’ll need to complete five units over a one-year period, which could include:
- Civil Litigation Practice
- Criminal Litigation Practice
- Conveyancing Practice
- Family Practice
- Employment Practice
- Introduction to Law and Practice
- Contract Law
- Criminal Law
- Land Law
- Tort Law
- Law of Wills and succession
- Employment Law
- Family Law
- Client Care Skills*
- Legal Research*
You’ll be assessed through both exams and portfolio work – the modules with a * are examined either in January and/or June. Client Care Skills and Legal Research Skills are assessed by portfolio. On completion you can move on to the CILEx Level 3 Diploma Law and Practice, or to employment.
You’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and/or Level 2 Certificate in Legal Studies or relevant experience. You’ll also undergo an interview.
You’ll be expected to join and pay for membership of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and to pay CILEx for your exam entries (currently £47 per module).
Due to current limitations, payment can only be made via bank transfer.
