C&G Groundworks Level 2
In a nutshell
If you’ve decided the construction industry is for you, this course will teach you the basics of groundworks to get you started.
This course is for...
…those who would like a career in groundworks.
You’ll need to be able to work independently or as part of a team, be fully committed to attending as well as respecting others and be willing to improve your academic subjects.
The course covers a number of themes:
- Health, safety and welfare
- How to use various hand tools and cutting equipment
- How to prepare and place concrete
- How to prepare and lay finishing floor screeds
- How to mix various building materials by hand and machine
- How to lay domestic drainage
- How to set up signage, lighting and guarding when working on site e.g. path or road.
You’ll be assessed via a combination of exams, coursework, assignments, a portfolio and laboratory or practical assessment, and on successful completion you’ll achieve the Level 1 Construction – Groundworks qualification alongside appropriate supporting qualification(s) to broaden your skill set,, Skills Activities, Maths and English.
You’ll need at least 4 GCSEs grade G or above.
Gaining this qualification could lead to employment in groundwork or you could go on to the L2 Construction - Groundwork qualification. You could also progress onto an Apprenticeship.
