This is an ideal starting point if you’re unsure about what you want to do. Not only will it introduce you to college and college life, but it also allows you to sample six different vocational areas within your first year.

What will I be doing?
The course is built around core, practical units that give you the practical skills and techniques to help you gain realistic work experience. These units cover topics such as being organised, developing a progression plan, working with others and researching a topic, before you move on to units from up to six of the following:
- Art and Design
- Digital Media
- Performing Arts
- Public Services
Throughout the course, you’ll be assessed through assignments and tasks and practical assessments, to ultimately achieve:
What is expected of me?
There are no formal entry requirements, but you’ll need to be motivated, hardworking and willing to have a go at each of the vocational options. You’ll also need to be committed to full attendance and being punctual for all sessions.
What comes next?
The Diploma gives you the chance to develop useful, transferable skills in completing tasks to help you progress to further learning. If you decide one of the vocational areas is for you, you can continue your studies at Level 2.
You’ll need to purchase safety kit for the practical elements of the course, which costs around £110.00. There may be additional costs during the year for educational visits.
