What will I be doing?
This course will provide you with a basis in business knowledge, customer service management and enterprise skills that can open doors for you to progress as an entrepreneur in the business world. You’ll have the opportunity to plan and start your own business, considering areas such as customer service, marketing, finance and leadership.
The topics covered vary but will include:
- The entrepreneurial mindset
- The business environment
- Creating a vision for your business
- Preparing and pitching your business idea
- The marketing plan
- Financial modelling and forecasting
- Customer service principles
- Communicating with customers
- Health and safety at work
- Employee rights and responsibilities
This is a vocational and practical course, so you’ll develop skills relevant to working in these fields; you'll also get the opportunity for work experience to prepare you for employment or further study.
You’ll be assessed using a variety of methods, including real life scenario-based projects based in our customer service office and assignments for skills activities, as well as examinations in Maths and English, ultimately achieving Level 2 Extended Certificate in Enterprise Skills and appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set.
What is expected of me?
You’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs, Grade D or above, including either Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language – or an appropriate Level 1 Diploma qualification in the relevant vocational area, with either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language grade. As well as attending college, you’ll be expected to undertake between three and four hours additional study out of college each week.
What comes next?
On completing the course, you can either progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business or into employment. After completing business studies at Level 3, you can move on to the Foundation Degree in Retail Management or the new HND in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (subject to validation).
