In a nutshell

If you own a horse or want to work with them, you’ll need to know what to do in case of an accident or injury to them – and this course covers all the aspects of basic first aid you can administer.

This course is for...

…those working with horses.

Course content

Study includes identifying the principles of first aid and legislation surrounding the administration of treatments. You'll identify signs of good and poor health within horses, explore types of wounds and common injuries, discuss weight management and body condition scoring, as well as identifying the need to call a vet.

This course is delivered through:

  • Group work
  • Classroom based learning
  • Practical activities

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements, although learners will need to be over the age of 16.

On successful completion, you'll gain a college certificate.
