Agored Cymru Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support Level 3
In a nutshell
Designed to develop knowledge and skills in the health workforce, this qualification gives you the skills and knowledge to become competent in supporting Health Professionals (e.g. doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, healthcare scientists) in providing clinical healthcare. You’ll be able to work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring your work meets the required standard.
This course is for...
…anyone working in healthcare who has a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. …those working in clinical services e.g. medical, surgical, critical care, outpatients, community and A & E, possibly in a supervisory role, who looks after the well-being and comfort of patients and provides vital assistance to healthcare professionals.
You’ll need to complete 12 mandatory units that include:
- Health and Safety
- Duty of Care
- Record keeping
- Equality and inclusion
- Person centred care
- Infection control
You’ll also choose from a selection of optional units to suit your job role.
On average, this qualification takes up to 12 months and is assessed using a combination of portfolio – you’ll need to produce evidence to prove you have the competence to meet the NVQ standards; and by observation – the assessor tests your knowledge, understanding and work-based performance to make sure you can demonstrate competence in the workplace.
There are no formal entry requirements but you should be working as a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker, Health Care Assistant or Phlebotomist (taking blood samples from patients (usually in hospital) for testing in laboratories).
This course is part-funded (subject to terms and conditions) and is delivered in your workplace (usually a couple of hours each month).
