In a nutshell
This course allows you to develop your photography skills to a higher level.
This course is for...
Those with a knowledge of how to use your DSLR camera manually and have a genuine interest in the subject and a commitment to photograph subjects outside of college course hours.
Course content
This course builds on your existing skills and develops your skill level and conceptual thinking. You will achieve a Coleg Gwent Certificate in Advancing Photography. This course is taught in a fun and enjoyable way and allows you to grow as a photographer.
You will study:
In class workshops:
- 35mm film photography, including shooting 35mm film, developing film and scanning
- Large format film, including shooting large format film, developing film and scanning
With weekly briefs, including:
- Recap of manual settings
- Photographic genres
- Experimental imagery
- Cyanotypes – chemical and digital
- Responding to text
- Conceptual photography
- Macro photography
- Low light photography
- Experimental studio
- Time-lapse
- Moving Image
There will be two location trips/field trips throughout the course. There will be multiple projects throughout the course and there will be feedback from tutors and peers on a weekly basis, via Slideshow, of student imagery with a group critique.
Entry Requirements
It is essential that you own or have regular access to a digital SLR camera that you are confident using.
