In a nutshell
This course has been designed for anyone that has an interest in photography and wishes to develop their skills to a higher standard.
This course is for...
... you’re creative
... you enjoy taking photographs and want a more technical knowledge
... you want a career as a photographer
Course content
You’ll photograph a range of subjects and in doing this will learn and understand the principles of composition and the creative functions of the camera.
The course will also look at the historical and contemporary practice of photography and build up an awareness of the many genres and contexts in which photography can be applied. Creative work will be mostly of a digital nature using Photoshop, although there’ll be opportunities to experiment with hand-rendered fine art techniques.
During the first term (September to December) you’ll be encouraged to build upon the knowledge, skills and understanding of AS Level syllabus with the opportunity to address a photographic subject, style, theme, issue or concept of your own choice (a personal investigation).
The remainder of the year (January to May) will consist of a controlled assignment; which is an externally set paper of questions from which you generate your own contextual and creative response.
Entry Requirements
To enrol, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, to include English.
Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there’s an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
Additional information
You’ll be expected to own a digital SLR camera and pay a £10.00 studio fee.
After booking your course you have 14 days to change your mind and request a full refund. You can still request a refund after this date, but this will only be given if you meet the criteria from the college fee policy.
If your chosen course starts within 14 days of you booking your place, then the 14 day refund policy does not apply and any refund will be subject to the college fee policy.
All courses may be subject to change and cancelled if deemed not viable to run.
