In a nutshell

CompTIA are a vendor-neutral, independent source of information on a wide range of technology topics, including cybersecurity; education, training and certification of the global tech workforce; new and emerging technologies; legislation and policies affecting the industry and workforce data, development and trends.

CompTIA Server+ is a global certification that validates the hands-on skills of IT professionals who install, manage and troubleshoot servers in data centres as well as on-premises and hybrid environments. It's the only certification that can ensure IT professionals at the administrator level are able to do the job in any environment as the certification is not restricted to a single platform.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

Course content

Throughout the course you will cover the following topics:

• Server Hardware Installation & Management - Install and maintain physical hardware and storage
• Server Administration - Manage and maintain servers, including OS configuration, access control and virtualization
• Security & Disaster Recovery - Apply physical and network data security techniques and Understand disaster recovery and implement backup techniques
• Troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve system hardware, software, connectivity, storage, and security issues

Entry Requirements

To start on this course we recommend that you are CompTIA A+ certified or have equivalent knowledge with a minimum of two years of hands-on experience working in a server environment.

Additional information

This course is delivered by eLearning. This means that you should be motivated to study in a self-paced, self-organised manner using an internet enabled device.

The course includes an exam which is invigilated online and you need to have access to an internet enabled device with a microphone and a webcam.
