In a nutshell

The IEMA Environmental Sustainability Skills for the Workforce training course is the perfect introduction to sustainability for non-environmental specialists.

The aim of this short course is to provide an overview of environmental sustainability, equipping candidates with the knowledge and skills to make positive changes towards meeting the needs of stakeholders while improving their environmental performance.

IEMA is the professional body for everyone working in environment and sustainability. This course will enable you to make a positive difference to your organisation’s environmental performance.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

This course is for...

Individuals currently employed by Tata Steel UK (sites in Wales) OR its wider Welsh supply chain (including at risk of redundancy), aged 19+, living in Wales.

Course content

This course is designed to be is a short awareness programme to give all workers a basic understanding of sustainability principles. The outcomes of the course range from working to ISO:14001 standards through to improvement of sustainability across your supply chain.

Through a series of practical activities and workshops, this IEMA certified training course explores environmental risks and opportunities, compliance obligations and key sustainability issues.

The course is delivered as follows:

UNITS

Module 1 - Risks and opportunities from environmental sustainability

Module 2 - Laws and other compliance obligations

Module 3 - Key environmental sustainability issues

Module 4 - Improving environmental sustainability performance

ASSESSMENT

At the end of the course, you will undertake a short online multiple choice test.

The IEMA certificate will be issued upon successful completion.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements, however it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. No prior experience or knowledge is required.

Additional information

This course is delivered by eLearning. This means that you should be motivated to study in a self-paced, self-organised manner using an internet enabled device.

The course includes an exam which is invigilated online and you need to have access to an internet enabled device with a microphone and a webcam.

Course length is approximately 10 hours with 3 months online access provided (including sitting the exam).
