In a nutshell
This course aims to enable business owners to reduce energy consumption, costs and carbon emissions by equipping them to apply energy management principles and techniques.
The course is accredited by The EnCO initiative. EnCO aims to engage, equip and empower organisations and energy professionals to enable significant energy savings through people.
This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

... anyone aged 19+, living in Wales and in employment. The usual salary limit of £29,534 does not apply to this course.
... those wanting to become involved in the move towards Net Zero either as an energy conscious employee or business owner.
... anyone hoping to implement an up-to-date energy strategy for their business.
... anyone looking to start a career in energy management and become a sustainability practitioner or consultant.
Course content
This course includes the following modules:
- Energy Crisis Advice
- Energy Data and Management
- Implementing Energy Saving Interventions
- Sustainable Best Practice
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the role of decarbonisation for a business
- demonstrate and articulate the broad concepts and practical issues surrounding Net Zero (carbon)
- apply the key concepts of energy management to a business
- apply acquired knowledge from the ENCO industry specific standard into a business
Upon completion of the course, you'll become a certified energy conscious individual with EnCO.
Entry Requirements
To enter this course, you'll need an active interest in Net Zero issues and a desire to learn about how you can make positive changes in your workplace.
Additional information
This course is delivered by eLearning. This means that you should be motivated to study in a self-paced, self-organised manner using an internet enabled device.
For business owners this involves individual learning plus a level of online group participation and engagement with other business owners.
The course must be completed 3 months after the start date.
