In a nutshell

The BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis will validate your skills and knowledge as a Business Analysis and show that you have the capabilities to function within the Business Analysis sector.

This is an internationally recognised diploma that shows you have demonstrated the full and detailed understanding of business analysis best practice.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

... anyone over 19, living in Wales, in employment and earning less than £29,534 a year.

... anyone who wants to improve their skills and techniques needed to be able to confidently improve the quality and processes within an organisation.

Course content

The BCS International Diploma is a 12 months long programme. All learning and exams needs to be completed within this duration.

The programme is structured into 5 distinct Virtual Classroom Courses over a total of 11 full days sessions. at different points within the year.

The syllabus for the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis consists of four modules:

  • Two core modules:
    • The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice runs over 3 full days (weekend classes) and presents a holistic view of an organisation by using strategic analysis tools and techniques to investigate and improve the business.
    • The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Requirements Engineering runs over 3 full days (weekend classes) and enables you to learn how to take a systematic approach to eliciting, defining, analysing, validating, documenting and managing requirements.
  • A Knowledge-based specialism module:
    • The BCS Foundation Certificate in Organisational Behaviour runs over 2 full days (weekend classes) and will help you gain an understanding of the complex factors which shape the way organisations operate, including the principles of organisational design and operating models.
  • Finally, you will need the Practitioner-based module:
    • The BCS Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes runs over 2 full days (weekend classes) and is designed to help you understand a range of business process modelling and analysis techniques, know how they are used and identify when to use them.

At the end of the course there will be an Oral Examination Preparation Workshop that runs over 1 full day (weekend class), where you will work with expert trainers, to ensure you have understood the principles taught throughout the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements, but you’ll need a keen interest in the subject and knowledge-based specialism of either:

  • The BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis – An overview of the principles, techniques, and tools of the Business Analyst

or

  • The BCS Foundation Certificate in Commercial Awareness – The understanding of the financial, cultural, and organisational behaviour that effects all businesses

This course is delivered by virtual classroom. Virtual classrooms are equivalent to face-to-face classroom courses, but delivered in an online environment.

The course exams will be online and you need to have access to an internet enabled device with a microphone and a webcam.
