In a nutshell

Are you looking to develop your environmental leadership skills to drive change at a senior level? Perhaps you're driven to level up your skillset and qualify as a competent environmental practitioner.

IEMA is the professional body for everyone working in environment and sustainability. This course will enable you to make a positive difference as a sustainability practitioner. The course is perfect for anyone wishing to upgrade their IEMA membership to Practitioner Level (PIEMA) and Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP).

The IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management Course syllabus covers a wide range of environmental and sustainability issues to enable you to become a practitioner who can drive change in organisations. A practical approach is adopted to enable organisations to improve their environmental performance and reduce their impacts, both strategically and operationally.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

Individuals currently employed by Tata Steel UK (sites in Wales) OR its wider Welsh supply chain (including at risk of redundancy), aged 19+, living in Wales.

Course content

The course is delivered as follows:

UNITS

Module 1 - Fundamentals of sustainability, business and governance

Module 2 - Environmental principles, policy and legislation

Module 3 - Environmental management, assessment tools and skills

ASSESSMENTS

There are three knowledge-based assignments for each taught module. This is in the form of a written document for each of the three modules, to be completed after each module of the course.

You will then need to complete an Assessment of Competence based on work experience; this is taken after all other modules have been successfully completed. This is to qualify for Practitioner Membership of IEMA (PIEMA).

Entry Requirements

IEMA Foundation Certificate or Sustainability knowledge/experience.

Additional information

This course is delivered via distance learning. This means that you should be motivated to study in a self-paced, self-organised manner.

Course lenght is approximately 120 hours.
