In a nutshell

Although there’s a range of computer-aided design and drafting software available, one of the most popular is AutoCAD. On this course, you'll focus on using the AutoCAD program to produce 2D/3D drawings.

This course is for learners who wish to further their experience and skills in the use of CAD software. You will learn the more advanced aspects of AutoCAD including the use of the application and role that CAD drawing and design plays in industry.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

... taking the next step in your career in the Engineering sector by learning how to use AutoCAD to create, edit and manage drawings

... those interested in producing engineering drawings and computer aided design

Course content

The Level 3 CAD course is ideal if you've got a background in computing and design and you may have worked in manufacturing or engineering design for some time. You want to develop specialist 2D/3D design skills to help you move on in your career.

There are four qualifications available at this Level:

  • Level 3 Award in 2D Computer Aided Design
  • Level 3 Award in 3D Computer Aided Design
  • Level 3 Award in Parametric Modelling
  • Level 3 Certificate in Computer Aided Design

With the Level 3 Certificate you will be required to complete two units from 2D CAD, 3D CAD and/or Parametric Modelling.

Entry Requirements

To enrol on this course, you'll need to have one of the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Award 2D Computer Aided Design
  • Level 2 Award in Parametric Modelling
  • Level 2 Certificate in Computer Aided Design
