In a nutshell

Whether you already hold plumbing qualifications or are new to the gas industry, this course will give you the fundamental knowledge you need to become a Gas Installer. Once you’ve gained the BPEC Gas Foundation Certificate, you’ll be able to apply for the relevant ACS assessments.

This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

This course is for...

... anyone aged 19+, living in Wales, in employment and earning less than £29,534 a year

... ACS Category 2 and 3 candidates wanting to become a registered Gas Installer

... those taking their next step into a career within the gas industry

Course content

This BPEC Gas Foundation course is ideal if you want to start a career in the gas industry.

The course has been designed for ACS Category 2 and 3 candidates (Category 2 trainees will have a recognised qualification in mechanical services engineering, e.g. plumbing, but no gas training and experience. Category 3 trainees are new to the gas industry and need more intense training).

Once you’ve completed the training, portfolio and successful recommendation, you’ll be issued with a BPEC Gas Foundation certificate which means you can then apply for the relevant ACS assessments.

Entry Requirements

You’ll need to be able to arrange on-site experience with a registered Gas Installer (in order to gain and record formal experience) and/or be wanting to either change career or progress your existing career within the construction sector.

Additional information

Course dates and location will be discussed during the application.
