In a nutshell
The aim of this unit is to provide learners with the knowledge to understand the context and background to domestic retrofit under PAS2035. Learners will gain an understanding of, and be able to detail, the benefits of whole house retrofit, evaluating retrofit options, patterns of domestic energy use and the key principles of low carbon domestic retrofit.
A Personal Learning Account is a new initiative from the Welsh Government and is a free and flexible way to learn. The initiative will offer people the chance to access free, part-time courses that offer flexible and convenient learning around their existing lifestyle.

Course content
The main topics covered by this Unit are:
- Understand the political and technical context of retrofit under PAS2035
- Be able to analyse and explain the pattern of domestic energy use, and how it varies between dwellings
- Be able to explain the benefits of whole house domestic retrofit
- Understand retrofit standards and processes under PAS2035
- Be able to explain the evaluation of retrofit options
- Understand the key principles of low carbon domestic retrofit
Assessment of this unit will be through the completion of a mandatory end of qualification knowledge test and professional discussion.
Entry Requirements
You will be assessed based upon your current knowledge, any questions and professional discussions can be done in your own time.
To undertake this course, you will need to have prior knowledge and experience of the chosen skill/pathway.
Candidates must have basic level of literacy, be in employment and have access to an observable working situation. Basic IT skills may be required but aren't essential.
