City & Guilds Award in Education and Training Level 3

In a nutshell

Covering the knowledge and skills needed by teachers/trainers in further education or skills training, this course will give learners a fundamental understanding of their role and responsibility relating to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the learners’ needs.

Course content

This course is designed to enable learners to support learning, plan and deliver sessions using appropriate resources and teaching methods, and identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback. By the end of the programme, they’ll be able to:

• Explain the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
• Demonstrate inclusive teaching and learning approaches
• Describe the principles and practice of assessment

Learners will be assessed on 8 pieces of written work and the delivery of a micro-teaching session and assessment of 2 colleagues. To achieve the qualification, all assessments must be passed and the pass mark for each assessment is 70%, after which the City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Education and Training will be awarded.

Entry Requirements

Although there are no formal entry requirements, learners should be 19 or over and have the ability to read and interpret written tasks, write answers in a legible and understandable format and organise written information clearly and coherently. They'll also need to consider a subject for delivery in which they have experience or subject specialism.

Additional information

After completing this course, learners could progress to our NVQ Assessor and Verifier awards, Level 3 in Coaching & Mentoring or consider a PGCE.
