Whether you want to specialise in wig-making or to work in film or theatre, this extensive course gives you the expert skills, practices and knowledge needed to construction lace fronted wigs, hairpieces and facial postiche.

Course content

The course covers the following:

• History of wig making
• Hair sources and uses
• Materials, tools and styling products
• Health and safety
• Taking measurements
• Foundation making
• Whipping, knotting and weaving techniques
• Construction of lace fronted wigs, hairpieces and facial postiche
• Dressing and styling wigs, hairpieces and facial postiche
• Application and removal of wigs and facial postiche

At the end of the course, following final piece assessments and testing of your knowledge, you’ll receive a college certificate.

There are no formal requirements.

Additional information

Additional costs include concessions – £300 (any lace fronted wigs, hairpieces and facial postiche pieces will be yours to keep), and kit – £19 (which can be purchased through the college). You’ll need to wear your own black trousers, black top and black shoes.
