In a nutshell
If you’re interested in hairdressing, this course gives you the perfect opportunity to develop confidence and skills for styling hair up techniques for bridal, prom and special occasion events.
This course is for...
…anyone wanting to work in hairdressing.
The focus is on classic up-do hairstyles, and you’ll learn at least five styles which may include rolls, knots and buns. The course itself covers:
- Demonstrations of various techniques, including rolls, knots and buns
- Application of hair ornaments
Hair and scalp analysis
- Consultation techniques and contraindications
- Health and safety
You’ll need to be self-motivated, hardworking, have a friendly personality and a high level of personal presentation, and be committed to full attendance and punctuality for all sessions. You’ll work on long hair manikin heads to create your five classic bridal and event hair looks – however, you may wish to work on real clients within the college, commercial environment.
You’ll have an informal assessment and verbal feedback from your tutor in the classroom, and after completing the course you could go on to other short non-qualification courses or follow a formal, qualification-based course in hairdressing and/or beauty therapy.
There are no formal entry requirements, just an
interest in the subject.
You’ll need to buy the tools for hair up styles, which
on average cost around £25.00 and can be purchased in your first session at college. To create more individual styles you may want to buy additional items and bring them with you to the session
