This short introduction is to prepare you for the part time Hot Stone Massage Therapy course which is specifically designed to help you develop the practical skills and knowledge to provide the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of massage using hot and cold stones.

The technique uses specific types of stones applied at different temperatures to the body and face during massage. Once these skills have been perfected, they can also be used as part of facials, manicures and pedicures, giving your clients more advanced treatment options.

Course content

In this short introduction to the part time course, you will be given a demonstration using hot stones by one of our professional Beauty tutors.

You will also be able to ask any questions you have regarding the part time course.

The part time course will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and massage products. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the body, use a stone heater and place stones and provide relaxing massage treatments using basalt stones and a variety of techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

The units covered in the part time course include:

  • Client Care and Communication
  • Stone Therapy Massage
  • Health and Safety Practices in the Salon

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a stone therapy massage specialist. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a stone therapy massage specialist. Career opportunities as a stone therapy massage specialist a exist in a variety of contexts, including:

- Working in commercial beauty salons
- Working in a destination or day spa
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
