Coleg Gwent has partnered with Aneurin Bevan Health Board and My Care My Home to host a series of Care Careers Fairs across the college campuses at Crosskeys, Pontypool, Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone and City of Newport Campus.

The first event will be held at the Crosskeys Campus on Tuesday 19th December between 10.30am – 3.00pm.

Exhibitors will include Coleg Gwent’s School of Care, who will be on hand to help anyone interested in courses relating to health sector careers, including Physiotherapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social and support work, Healthcare Assistant roles and Medicine.

This event will also give students and the local community the chance to find out about job opportunities and meet care industry employers, including Aneurin Bevan Health Board, My Care My Home, AbiCare, Q Care and Bluestones Medical.

Coleg Gwent will be hosting similar events in 2018, on 5th February at the Pontypool Campus, on 8th February at Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone, and on 14th February at the City of Newport Campus.

Debbie Field, Head of Care at Crosskeys Campus said: “This will be fantastic opportunity for anyone looking for vacancies in this sector. We are delighted to host the first of the Care Careers Fairs. We have had a lot of support from care industry providers, and we have a number of exhibitors who are very keen to meet with students and members of the local community.”

Chris Smith, Director of Learning Support and Services at the Crosskeys Campus said: “Coleg Gwent and the School of Care offers many different pathways for someone thinking about a career in healthcare. Students can choose from a range of courses in Health and Social Care, Childcare, Community Health, Mental Health, Psychology, Applied Science, as well as A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Health and Social Care, and Psychology.
