The 20-year-old from Somerton Park, Newport has already competed in the regional heat to get through to the UK finals at Birmingham and if Kyle is successful there he has a chance to join Team UK in the World Skills in Abu Dhabi
Kyle, who is an apprentice with Nationwide Crash Repair Centre
in Newport will face six practical tests to demonstrate his skill against his peers from colleges across the UK.
The challenges will include a plastic repair, refinishing a 3 stage pearlescent, a fade out repair on a metallic wing, marking and measuring a design and refinishing a car bonnet.
Head of Motor Vehicle Body Repair, Richard Wheeler said: “It is exciting for Kyle and the college to be part of this competition which has a very positive impact in lots of ways. It takes hard work, determination and a high level of skill to get this far.”
