First Aid at Work Requalification

Target Audience

This course is designed for employees who need to renew a valid First Aid at Work certificate. Candidates must hold and produce a First Aid at Work certificate, which is valid for the duration of this refresher training. The course is suitable for renewing the status of a recognised first aider in the workplace.

Course Aims

To provide up to date and thorough knowledge of first aid techniques, enabling first aiders to deal with any incident in the workplace.

Course Objectives

On completion of this programme candidates will be able to understand the importance of, and deal with: • Managing an incident • Roles / responsibilities of employers & employees for first aid at work • Unconsciousness • Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) • Disorders of the airway • Bleeding and shock • Burns and scalds • Injuries to bones, muscles and joints • Poisoning • Major and minor illnesses • Eye and miscellaneous injuries • Record keeping and accident reporting • Infection control • Communication • Managing the transportation of a casualty

Course Duration

This course is normally delivered over two days (12 hours). Delegates who successfully complete the course are awarded a First Aid at Work certificate valid for three years. Clients who hold an Emergency First Aid certificate should attend the one day (6 hour) Emergency First Aid at Work course.
