This course has been designed for those intending to participate, and those already participating in, community development activity. It also provides a good progression route from the Level 2 Award.
The Level 3 Award in Community Development provides learners with knowledge in community development values and processes, community group understanding and an understanding of diversity, inequality and injustice issues. It can help prepare learners for employment in community development work, or develop the knowledge of those already involved in community work.
Course attendess will gain an understanding of: - value based community development - competencies required of community development workers - the role of reflection and learning in community development practice - the impact of people’s involvement in community groups - roles and relationships in community groups - the factors affecting the autonomy and inclusiveness of community groups - the diversity of communities - the impact of social inequality, diversity and injustice on communities - how the dynamics of power and influence impacts on communities The Level 3 Award in Community Development is composed of three mandatory units. To achieve the qualification, the learner must complete all of the mandatory units. Individual units can be awarded separately.
This course is normally delivered over 6 days. Delegates who successfully complete the course are awarded an Agored Cymru Level 3 Award in Community Development.
