RESOURCES COMMITTEE (VOLUNTARY ROLE)
Closing Date: 28th September 2012
Coleg Gwent, in South East Wales, is the largest College in Wales and one of the largest in the UK. Its Governing Body is known as the Coleg Gwent Further Education Corporation.
The Corporation wishes to appoint to a current vacancy on its Resources Committee. Membership would be on a co-opted basis, which means that the successful candidate would not have full Corporation responsibility, but that their contribution, based on their specialist skills and impartiality, would be focused specifically on the work of the Committee. Co-opted Committee Members are normally required to attend up to 5 Committee meetings per year, for which the dates (Tuesday evenings) are planned 12 months in advance. In addition, at the outset, the new Committee Members will be required to undergo a comprehensive induction process to prepare them for their role and, also, provide context about the College as a £55M organisation.
The appointed candidate will normally be a fully qualified audit finance professional, with energy, initiative and drive, and with at least 2 years post-qualification experience. Corporation and Committee Members are people drawn from a wide range of backgrounds, reflecting the communities served by the College. Together they bring a rich mix of experience, views, knowledge and skills and make a vital contribution to the College’s continuing quest to become outstanding and, also, help to influence the direction of Further Education in its local communities and in Wales as a whole.
As an organisation committed to Equal Opportunities we welcome expressions of interest from members of groups currently under-represented on the Corporation including women, people with disabilities and people from ethnic minority groups. Expressions of interest from parents or guardians of current or prospective students of Coleg Gwent would also be particularly welcome.
There is, of course, an appointments process for this public role, details of which are included in an Information Pack. To request an Information Pack and/or for an informal discussion please contact:
